Penang Green Council Unites Leaders for Climate-Resilient Future at Green Summit 2025

As climate change continues to disrupt lives through extreme weather and rising global temperatures, the Penang Green Council (PGC) is stepping up with the Penang Green Summit 2025 — a two-day gathering on 31 October and 1 November at the new Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) to spark solutions and collaboration.

Former state executive councillor Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh has long stressed the urgency of addressing this issue, noting how extreme weather has already impacted Penangites. From flooding caused by heavy rainfall to prolonged droughts that disrupted water supply and record-breaking global heatwaves, climate change is no longer a distant concern — it is reshaping lives today.

The Green Summit will provide a global platform for knowledge-sharing, business networking, and cross-border collaboration. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from sustainability success stories that demonstrate real impact in areas such as renewable energy, water management, and circular economy practices. These case studies aim to inspire communities, industries, and policymakers to scale practical solutions and accelerate adoption worldwide.

Beyond highlighting solutions, the summit reflects Penang’s ambition to position itself as a regional leader in sustainable growth. Hosting this event at the PWCC also marks a milestone, as it will be the convention centre’s first major gathering since its completion.
